Vintage Theatre Announces Auditions for Four Shows

AUDITIONS: Saturday, October 8, 2016.

TIME:
You can sign up for one of three times:
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

You should plan to stay the entire two hours.

LOCATION: Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St, Aurora 80010

PREPARE: Please bring a resume and headshot for each show you would like to audition for.

CALLBACKS: Will be scheduled individually by each director. Dates/times will be available at auditions.

YOUR AUDITION: You will be given cold readings from each script you are auditioning for.

BRILLIANT TRACES
by Cindy Lou Johnson, Directed by Craig A Bond
In the midst of an epic snowstorm in the isolated Alaskan wilderness, two lost souls find connection and understanding in this comedic drama.

RUN DATES: January 13 – March 5, 2017 in the Bond-Trimble Theatre. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 2:30 with one Industry Night TBD.

REHEARSALS: will begin mid-November.

THE INTELLIGENT DESIGN OF JENNY CHOW
by Rolin Jones, Directed by Mark Pergola
When a young agoraphobic decides she wants to meet her birth mother in China, she devises a new method of human contact in this Pulitzer-Prize nominated comedy.

When a father kills the two men who attacked his daughter, it’s up to a young attorney to keep him from a death sentence and a community from being torn apart.

Set in the 1950s and based on real events, this taut, visceral play takes a compelling look at world-famous artist Mark Rothko at the pinnacle of his creative powers as he takes on a new and mysterious student.

BILLY ELLIOT, the Musical

Set in a northern English mining town against the background of the 1984 miners’ strike, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of a young boy’s struggle against the odds to make his dream come true. Follow Billy’s journey as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and community…and changes his life forever.

RUN DATES: February 3 – March 19, 2017 in the Nickelson Auditorium. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 2:30 with one Industry Night TBD.

In addition to our regular performances, Billy Elliot will have several tour dates (actual dates TBD) that the cast will need to be available for. We will have tour dates set by the time of auditions.

REHEARSALS: will begin mid-November. Specific schedule will be available at auditions.

ROLES AVAILABLE:
Billy Elliot (Male – 10 – 13) A boy who stumbles upon a ballet class and develops a passion for dance.
Dad (Male – 40 – 50) Billy’s stoic father. A widowed miner.
Debbie Wilkinson (Female – 9-12) The ballet teacher’s daughter. Feisty and fun.
Grandma – this role has been pre-cast
Michael (Male – 10 – 13) Billy’s careless and fun-loving best friend.
Mrs. Wilkinson (Female – 40 – 50) The local ballet teacher, passionate and sassy.
Tony (Male – 18 – 25) Billy’s brother. Hotheaded and scrappy.

We’ll also be casting 14 – 16 adults and kids to play multiple roles: miners, the ballet girls, police officers, and others.

Five musicians take you on a musical journey through the life and career of Johnny Cash. Hit songs in this tribute to “the man in black” include Ring of Fire, I Walk the Line and Folsom Prison Blues.

REHEARSALS: will begin late April/early May. Specific schedule will be available at auditions.

ROLES AVAILABLE: Looking for (4) Men and (1) Woman who can also play musical instruments. You will need to bring your instrument(s) with you to your audition. Looking for singer/musicians who can play the following instruments: piano, drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar,banjo, fiddle, and double bass (or electric bass).
